Is He Nuts!

First I have have to eat a little crow. In my previous blog post I stated that the Ex-Pres Bill Clinton made a stealth racist remark after the loss in SC. Well. It was the candidate herself who made it. From Yahoo News:

Clinton's camp had worked to manage expectations ahead of a primary that polls had indicated in advance she was likely to lose. Speaking at a town meeting-style rally Saturday night in Nashville -- the capital of Tennessee, which is holding one of the Super Tuesday primaries -- Clinton told supporters, "I want to tell you how excited I am that now the eyes of the country turn to Tennessee and the other states that will be voting on Feb. 5 ... [when] millions and millions of Americans are going to have the chance to have their voices heard and their votes counted."

And also as I said in the previous post. There are no coincidences with the Clinton's. This is true no matter which one is speaking... This is code for now mostly white people will be voting.

Now, for this morning's comments. McCain must be nuts. Does he really think that Romney would endorse timetables in Iraq out loud as a part of a strategy? Knowing that he wanted to run as a conservative Republican candidate? No way and McCain knows that. Romney is not stupid and even if he did feel that way, he would not say it out load. McCain misrepresented Romney's words. In his remarks (Romney's) he said basically said that he would not be surprised if there were SECRET benchmarks discussed and agreed upon by us and Irag. And this is as it should be. McCain himself has mentioned benchmarks and timetables. He has really stepped in it with this one. This just shows how McCain is running a pretty deceitful campaign.

I have tried to stay somewhat neutral on the individual candidates to this point and try to point out the "big picture" issues of this election. I have noted many times that the primaries have made it evident that the culture of politics is in an upheaval this cycle and this I believe, is for good reason. I can no longer do this. McCain has really lost it for me. He has changed his position on each of the issues he is most criticized on and when he takes this latest shot at Romney, he is doing nothing more than trying to shift the focus from Romney's strongest point, the economy to McCain's, the war. Romney has not been weak on the war at all.

Lets face it. By November it's possible that neither the war or the economy will be biggest issue in the media. It can turn on a dime. All of the candidates need to stay focused on the big picture.

I have to LOL at how quickly some candidates fall all over themselves to stress their positions on what ever hot button the media decides they should get a sound bite on. This reminds me of news on the stock market. The financial brainiacks will say that the sky is falling on Tuesday because one company has missed it's projections for revenue by 1 tenth of one percent and the next day the same geniuses will take a complete 180 on their previous comments and say how strong this or that company or financial sector is. They couldn't get away with this if it did not work. Us folks out here need to stay informed and not be sheep. A real good friend of mine once related a great phrase to me and I use it all of the time now. Based on the crazyness of the election season we have to sometimes take a deep breath. Remember that the media will continue to try to spark all kinds of crap and that the phrase "No brains, no headaches" applies to a whole bunch of folks out there.
