I have been listening to quite a bit of radio during the election cycle and because of the internet I'm able to listen to many different stations and therefore hosts. It hit me this morning while listening to Laura Ingraham just how bitter the conservative hosts and the "vibe" of the shows has become. I am startled at how Laura and Shawn an other more outspoken conservative hosts are sounding exactly the same. They even recite some of the same sentences with the same tone in their voice. The resentfulness comes through loud and clear. On Laura's show this morning she was ranting about 60 minutes last night and how 60 minutes was so wrong in propping up the Danish life style and the fact that their work week was ONLY 37 hours and that they received 6 weeks vacation. How dare they!
The more I listen to the conservative leaders in this country the more liberal I become. To me, and I have been preaching this since 1975 when I had been in the computer business for two years, the United States worker has been brain washed into thinking that if we don't produce 24/7 there is something wrong with us. I can remember back when the computer was going to give all of us much more leisure time. That never happened and it never will. The same is true for the "paperless society". We produce more paper than we ever did before the computer age robbed us of our soul.
Laura and her ilk can complain and whine and put down anyone that does not fall in line with their way of thing all they want, but I am going to take some time and "smell the roses", be happy, and yes, HOPEFUL (the new dirty word on the right) while I can. I don't want to spend my waking hours reading and mindlessly reciting some conservative matra while life goes by.
You go Obama, worts and all. I appreciate the freshness and idealistic perception that you bring to the race. It's ironic that the conservatives are sounding so bitter when the conservatives are the ones that preach that they are the happy people and the liberals are so miserable.
Laura, Sean, and others, just listen to yourselves, because I am not going to any more.
